Hi! My name is Mackenzie MacFarlane, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Huntington Beach High School. As a proud HBHS alumna who grew up in Huntington Beach, it feels incredibly special to return “home” as a member of the staff and to coach the Dance Team.

I have been dancing for twenty-six years, training in a variety of styles, with hip-hop remaining my favorite. I studied dance at Clifton Dance Project, Studio Fusion, APA, and Hudson Dance Academy, and I had the opportunity to dance on and coach an adult hip-hop team that placed third in the world at Dance Worlds. I have been teaching and coaching dance since the age of eighteen and love sharing my passion while helping students grow both technically and personally.

This is my twelfth year teaching dance and my seventh year in education. I began my teaching journey in Manhattan Beach, where I taught elementary physical education for two years. I then spent four years at Indio High School, where I built the dance program and coached the Dance Team. Most recently, I had the honor of serving as Dance Director at Newport Harbor High School.

Teaching dance is truly my passion. I am deeply committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students of all levels can explore their creativity, build confidence, and grow as dancers.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy dancing, rollerblading, mixing music, working out, and reading.

I’m excited to get to know the students, families, and staff at Huntington Beach High School and to contribute to this amazing school community. Go Oilers!
